Riddle's Court Autumn 2019 Wedding Fair

Riddle's Court was full to bursting with a fantastic range of flowers, cakes, dresses and music on Saturday 7th September 2019. We had hoped for a dry day for our wedding fair (a big ask in September!) and the sun delivered. The Shandoneers Ceilidh Band played their sets in our courtyard, enticing visitors down the close, through a fantastic flower arch provided by Spiral Flowers and into our unique building.

Welcomed with a glass of fizz (provided by vintage tableware specialists Green Cockatoo), guests met Appetite Events in our foyer, providing them with fantastic grazing canapes as samples of their wedding menu. Our wedding coordinators were also on hand to share our must-see spots, offering a one-to-one meeting or to simply hand guests a map and let them explore themselves.

Our largest space, the Library Room, was all set up for a banquet-style wedding breakfast, accentuated with beautiful stationery created by Jack and Jess. We were blessed to have two wedding cake suppliers with us at our wedding fair; Liggy's Cake Company provided a beautiful cake at the head of our table, and Fay's Cakes were on hand to dish out some incredible samples of their work.

Jo Tennant Photography, with her easels, postcards and photo-line brought some real life to the space. Her style of intimate moments captured was complemented splendidly by Fuze Ceremonies' stall, whose celebrants work on a personal level with couples to ensure their day is just as meaningful as it should be.

Our guests were guided up our romantic spiral staircase to the music of the Four String Quartet, who beckoned them into the Geddes Room, set up for a ceremony. As the building faces south, overlooking Victoria Street, the sun beamed down onto Walker Slater's pristine mannequins.

Moving from the Geddes Room into the adjoining Seton Room, complete with a 17th century plaster ceiling and Victorian-era Arts and Crafts seating booths, our guests entered our 'Getting Ready' set up. Though our onsite apartments, the King's Chamber, was actually booked out for a wedding taking place elsewhere in the city, our display and photo album allowed guests to browse the space and envisage their morning of the big day. Here were the essentials for the morning; we had Alice Muir and Rebekah McVitie, both make-up artists, displaying their fine work and offering guests with an opportunity to be made up there and then. House of Veils and CKS Bridal provided some stunning wedding apparel that truly transformed the space.

While our main function rooms may be few, our building, with so many hidden spaces and quirky features, felt full to the brim with the buzz of voices, music and excited planning. The day went by in a flash for us and our suppliers, but we're so thankful that so many visitors came by, interacted with exhibitors, and left the building with the same happy anticipation for their big day that we felt in planning ours.
